Plague and the apocalypse do go together don’t they? Odd that Bede doesn’t link them more closely.

The only place that I’ve found where Bede mentions plague in relation to something apocalyptic is just before the Britons are conquered by the English. He says that plague was sent to inspire them to reform, but they didn’t act on the warning. Of course, it’s not a universal apocalypse but maybe you could call it a “micro apocalypse” (as I called it in a couple of papers).
