Contagions

I’ve been away from history blogging land  too long and missed the beginning of Michelle’s new blog, Contagions, which focuses on infectious disease throughout history.

I’m on the lookout for more history blogs as I reconstitute my Google Reader feeds and expand the blogroll below.

  1. The only place that I’ve found where Bede mentions plague in relation to something apocalyptic is just before the Britons are conquered by the English. He says that plague was sent to inspire them to reform, but they didn’t act on the warning. Of course, it’s not a universal apocalypse but maybe you could call it a “micro apocalypse” (as I called it in a couple of papers).

Also, thank you for the link to Senchus, must add that to the blogroll!
